Il sottomarino tedesco U-47, condotto da Günther Prien, conobbe la gloria in seguito alla formidabile azione a Scapa Flow, base navale inglese al nord della Scozia.
Dopo l'affondamento della corazzata Royal Oak e il siluramento della nave appoggio Pegasus, il sottomarino prese il largo indenne.

The U-47 sunk the battleship Royal Oak, hit its support ship Pegasus and finally sailed out of the bay undamaged.
